Sobre moltes senyes ja he preguntat a la mare, la meva bona mare m’ho ha explicat tot, m’ha fet saber que, amb tota versemblança, aviat caldrà mirar d’aconseguir un bressol. Pots comprendre ara les llàgrimes que jo puc vessar? No ho hauries de veure, tu estimat espòs? Resta aquí al meu cor, sent els seus batecs, perquè et pugui estrènyer cada vegada més fort.
