Si com cavaller no puc mai tenir el plaer de caminar al teu costat, deixa’m almenys, com un patge, acompanyar-te sempre a la missa. Jo seré fidel i discret, de dia, atent al més petit signe, de nit, jauré al teu llindar encara que hi hagi tempesta o pedra; amb modestes salutacions, cada matí et portaré roses fresques, i als vespres, als teus peus, et cantaré cançons amb la guitarra; embridaré el blanc corser quan et vingui de gust anar a cacera, en tota l’extensió del bosc, servicial, et portaré la llança i el falcó; a les teves cites amoroses, jo mateix portaré la torxa i a la porta, amb l’espasa desembeinada, vetllaré quan tu besis un altre.
