Sonntagsruhe
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Sei mir willkommen, Tag der Ruhe,
der gottgeweihten, heil'gen Rast!
Wie du mir oft die matten Glieder
zu neuen Werke gekräftigt hast,
so wollest du auch heute mir tun,
lass mich in deinem Frieden ruh'n,
lass mich in deinem Frieden ruh'n.
Sei mir gepriesen, Tag der Freude,
mit Orgelton und Glockenklang!
Rufst du mich auf, den Herrn zu preisen
und stimmst die Seele mir zum Gesang;
nimmst von mir Sorge, Gram und Pein,
und lässt in Gott mich fröhlich sein,
und lässt in Gott mich fröhlich sein.

Sunday rest
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I welcome you, day of rest,
of holy rest, devoted to God.
Just as my weary limbs have so often
been restored for new work,
I ask that you do this for me again today,
let me rest in your peace,
let me rest in your peace.
Let me praise you, day of joy,
with the sounds of the organ and bells.
You wake me up to praise the lord
and you tune my soul, making it ready to sing;
you take away from me cares, grief and pain,
and you allow me to be joyful in God,
and you allow me to be joyful in God.
