Des Herrlichen, womit die volle Welt
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG

To resist with might and main that splendor
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
To resist with might and main that splendor
With which the wide world overwhelms us,
And to transfigure lastingly, as the fancy takes him,
Joy and sorrow in a thousand hearts,
The singer glows with enthusiasm in his poems,
Largely without thanks -- at least he doesn't feel it.
