L'Eraclito amoroso
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Available translation(s): FRE
Udite amanti la cagione, oh Dio !
Ch a lagrimar mi porta :
Nell'adorato e bello idolo mio.
Che si fido credei, la fede è morta.
Vaghezza ho sol di piangere,
Mi pasco sol di lagrime,
Il duolo è mia delizia
E son miei gioie i gemiti.
Ogni martire aggradami,
Ogni dolor dilettami,
I singulti mi sanano,
I sospir mi consolano.
Ma se la fede negami
Quell' incostante e perfido,
Almen fede serbatemi
Sino alla morte, O lagrime!
Ogni tristezza assalgami,
Ogni cordoglio eternisi,
Tanto ogni male affligami
Che m'uccida e sotterrimi.

Héraclite amoureux
Language: French (Français)  after the Italian (Italiano)
Écoutez, amants, la raison, oh Dieu !
Qui me pousse à pleurer :
En mon amour bel et adoré,
En qui je portais ma foi, ma foi est morte.
Je n'ai envie que de pleurer,
Je ne me nourris que de larmes,
La douleur est mon plaisir
Et les gémissements sont ma joie.
Tout martyre me plaît,
Toute douleur me ravit,
Les pleurs me guérissent,
Les soupirs me consolent.
Mais si la foi m'est refusée
Par mon inconstant et perfide,
Au moins conservez ma foi
Jusqu'à la mort, ô larmes !
Toute tristesse m'assaille,
Tout chagrin devient éternel,
Tout mal m'afflige tant
Qu'il me tue et m'enterre.
