Wenn die Vöglein sich gepaart
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): FRE
Wenn die Vöglein sich gepaart,
dürfen sie gleich nisten,
ohne Sorg', auf welche Art
sie sich werden fristen.
Ach, dass auch der Menschen zwei
also könnten wohnen
wie die Vöglein frank und frei
in den Laubeskronen!
Brauchte mit der Liebsten ja
nur ein kleines Nestchen:
doch kein Nahrungszweig ist nah,
der mir böt ein Ästchen.

Quand les oiseaux s'apparient
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Quand les oiseaux s'apparient,
ils peuvent aussitôt nicher,
sans se soucier de la façon
de subvenir à leurs besoins.
Ah, si deux personnes aussi
pouvaient habiter de même,
comme les oiseaux, ingénus et libres
dans le couronnement du feuillage !
Ma bien-aimée et moi n'aurions besoin
que d'un petit nid :
mais il n'y a pas là de petite branche
pour me proposer une brindille à manger.
