Sanft und mild Auf's Gefild Schwebt herab die stille Nacht! Vöglein tauchen in's Gefieder Längst die müden Köpfchen nieder Gott ist's, der für Alle wacht. Gute Nacht! Aug' und Herz Himmelwärts! Frag'st du, was dir werden soll? Kannst du nirgends Ruhe finden? Lass den Kummer endlich schwinden, Gott ist so erbarmungsvoll! Ruhe wohl! Auf den Herrn Hoffe gern, Der die Seinen nie verließ; Dann wird Friede dich umschweben, Und hienieden wirst du leben, Engeln gleich im Paradies. Träume süß!
