In principio erat verbum
Language: Latin
Available translation(s): ENG
Fuit homo missus a Deo cui nomen erat Iohannes.

In the beginning was the Word
Language: English  after the Latin
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him, and without him was made nothing that was made.
In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
And the light shines in the darkness and the darkness does not understand it.
There was a man sent from God whose name was John.
He came to be a witness, so that he could bear witness about the light,
so that everyone could believe through him.
He was not the light himself, but [came] to bear witness about the light.
It was the true light which shines on every man who comes into the world.
He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world did not recognise him.
He came to his own people and his own people did not accept him.
However, he gave to however many did receive him the power to become sons of God;
[he gave this power] to those who believe in his name.
They are born not from blood
or the will of the flesh
nor the will of man but from God.
And the Word was made flesh and lived among us
and we saw his glory, as if it was the glory of the Father's only son;
and [the Word] was full of grace and truth.
