Dornstrauch, meine Geschwisterpflanze,
deckt Winters Eis dich, schmäht man dich,
gespickt mit Dornen, hasst man dich.
Doch denke ich, kommt erst der Lenz,
dann sprießen Blätter dir und Rosen
und auf der Welt ist keine Pflanze dann
so lieblich und geliebt wie du.
Ach, wie viele Dornenstängel
stehen kahl in der Natur,
sie bräuchten Liebe bloß,
nur einen Sonnenblick aus einem Herzen,
um sich mit Rosen dann zu kleiden
und jeden Wesens Freude sein.
